Our Toddler Program focuses on providing children with a positive and supportive environment  for their first learning experience  away from home. This program supports the young child as he or she develops coordination, personal and social awareness, and a sense of order. Toddlers will develop independence and concentration through practicing basic life skills. The children enter an environment planned and prepared especially for the two- to three-year-old. They come to feel the classroom is their own peaceful, special space where they play a meaningful role in their care and the care of their classroom environment. Materials are designed so even the youngest child experiences success in their work, while allowing the older or more advanced child to undertake stimulating work as well.

An open, supportive relationship between teachers and parents is essential to providing optimal conditions for the toddler in the Montessori classroom. Daily communication, formal conferences, and parent enrichment classes contribute to an atmosphere in which each child can realize his or her full potential.

Classroom Readiness

Our task at the Montessori Academy of Glen Ellyn is to be joyful. We are here to assist you in giving your children experiences that will aid them for a lifetime. The emphasis is not on short-term results but on the complete development and growth of each unique, individual child. To this end, we are looking not just at a child’s age but at readiness for each learning environment (classroom).

Please note that these are general and were established in order to facilitate a calm and respectful learning environment for everyone. The classroom Director or the Head of School may consult with you any time we feel a change may be in the best interest of your child or the classroom community.
